In this test, Tiny droplets of liquid allergens are applied to your skin through a small prick. After 15-20 minutes, the reactions are observed for signs of sensitivity. The specialist ensures that the procedure is quick and precise, and delivers reliable results.

IMMUNOTHERAPY

After determining the allergens you are allergic to, an individualized allergy immunotherapy is planned. In immunotherapy, you shall be exposed to very minute quantities of allergens, in escalating doses, so that the body gets densitized to this allergen. After successful immunotherapy, the next time the same allergen enters your body, the body does not lodge an allergic attack against the allergen, hence you will remain asymptomatic.

While some improvement may be noticed during the initial build-up phase, it often takes 12 months on a maintenance dose for significant changes. Maintenance treatment typically lasts three to five years, offering sustained relief for many patients.

TYPES OF IMMUNOTHERAPY :

• Oral immunotherapy: Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is available for allergy treatment in which drops of immunotherapy doses are taken sublingually as per the planned schedule
• Injections: Subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) contains the cocktail of allergens a person has been found allergic to. This injection is made under the skin in escalating dosing as per the planned schedule at regular intervals.

RESULTS OF IMMUNOTHERAPY

 Allergy immunotherapy has proven effective in reducing symptoms, preventing new allergies, and, in children, even stopping the progression from allergic rhinitis to asthma. The success of immunotherapy depends on many factors:

• Number of Allergens a person was found allergic to – The lesser the number of allergens, the better may be the results.
• The duration and dosage – If the immunotherapy was taken as per schedule without missing doses and in planned dosing strengths
