PROFILE OF CHAIRMAN OF SpO2FIT Team: Dr. Brahma Prakash is a dedicated pulmonologist with nearly two decades of clinical experience, specializing in respiratory medicine. His expertise spans 18 years in pulmonology, respiratory critical care, and sleep medicine. He is known for his in-depth knowledge and commitment. He brings considerable experience to medical education, clinical practice, and research within this field.
SKILLS : With nearly 20 years of clinical experience and 18 years in pulmonology and respiratory critical care, Dr. Brahma Prakash is a well-rounded clinician and academician. His skills extend across pulmonology, critical care, sleep medicine, respiratory allergy, immunotherapy, and TB & HIV medicine, with a special focus on interventional pulmonology. He has extensive experience managing out-patient and in-patient care, independently performing routine procedures essential to respiratory care.
INSTITUTIONAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE : Dr. Brahma Prakash has served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur up to September 2024, following a role as Assistant Professor in the same department from November 2014 to April 2019. His earlier experience includes serving as a Senior Resident in the TB & Chest Department at RBIPMT in Delhi from May 2010 to May 2013. From December 2006 to December 2009, he was a Junior Resident at LRS Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi, where he completed his DNB in Respiratory Diseases. His foundational training included roles in the Orthopedic departments at ESI Hospital, Basaidarapur, and Dr. RML Hospital in New Delhi.In his teaching roles, Dr. Brahma Prakash has contributed significantly to medical education in government institutions, holding recognized positions as an undergraduate and postgraduate instructor for MD courses in Respiratory Medicine. Since 2020, he has been a postgraduate guide, supervising and guiding a total of 11 students through their MD programs, and is eligible to serve as a postgraduate examiner.
EDUCATION: Dr. Prakash completed his DNB in Respiratory Diseases at LRS Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi, in 2009, successfully passing on his first attempt. His thesis focused on the impact of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) on daily living activities under the guidance of Dr. M.M. Puri, a senior chest specialist. He earned his MBBS degree from Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary, Karnataka, in 2004, graduating with first-class honors.

PUBLICATIONS AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Dr. Prakash’s research credentials are extensive, with his work published across various esteemed journals and contributing to a nuanced understanding of respiratory diseases. Noteworthy among his publications is the 2010 study “Tuberculosis pneumonia as a primary cause of respiratory failure-report of two cases” in the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis, a critical exploration of tuberculosis as a predominant factor in respiratory failure. His collaborative study, “Opaque hemithorax-Re-visiting the causes,” published in The Internet Journal of Pulmonary Medicine in 2013, reflects his commitment to pioneering comprehensive clinical insights. Furthermore, his presentation of “Empyema Thoracis complicating MDR TB -An Experience of a tertiary institute” at NAPCON in 2011 highlighted his work on multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The 2014 publication, “Initiation of MDR TB treatment. Is hospitalization worth?” in the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis, emphasized innovative considerations on the cost-benefit analysis of inpatient treatments for tuberculosis management.
Dr. Prakash has made significant contributions to Pulmonology research. His work has been published in leading medical journals, including the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis, Cureus , Asian Journal of medical sciences , Journal of clinical & diagnostic research, to mention a few . His research continues to focus on Tuberculosis, Asthma, COPD, and advancements in the treatment and management of respiratory diseases. He has authored more than 18 research articles in various journals till now and had been a reviewer for various research articles during the peer review process.

Dr. Prakash has actively participated in numerous conferences, CMEs, and workshops over the last decade, both as a delegate and as a speaker or chairperson. Notable conferences attended include the Diagnostic Modalities & Dilemmas in Tuberculosis conference in Jabalpur (2015), the International Conference on Sleep Medicine in Goa (2017), and the 73rd NATCON, National Conference of TB and Chest Diseases in Nagpur (2019). He has also attended several regional conferences such as the IMA MPCON in Jabalpur (2018) and the Pulmonary Medicine Update in SEPM, Jabalpur (2021).
